사랑하는 산호세 한국 순교자 성당 교우 여러분!
우리 공동체가 이곳 Weddell 성당에 자리 잡은지 20년이란 세월이 흘러갑니다.
그동안 우리는 900세대, 3000명이 넘는 신자의 공동체로 크게 성장했습니다. 청소년 교육을 위한 교실수, 부엌시설이 없는 친교실, 터무니없이 부족한 주차장 등 모든 시설이 부족한 상태에서 보다 나은 새성전 마련을 위해 그동안 노력해왔습니다.
"마음의 성전에서 보이는 성전으로" 라는 슬로건 아래 전 신자들은 본당 차원에서 주님을 향한 일치된 마음으로 2004년 2월부터 묵주기도 100만단을 바치기 시작하여 2006년 5월 백만단 묵주기도를 달성했었습니다. 우리는 그때 간절히 기도드리면 하느님께서는 필요한 것을 주신다는 확신을 갖고 기도드렸습니다.
오랜 염원이었던 성전다운 성전마련이 이제 현실이 되었습니다. 이 모든 것이 교우 여러분의 기도의 결실이라 생각하며 모든 것을 주관하시는 하느님께서 그동안 우리와 함께 하셨음에 감사드립니다.
지난 건축위원회의 설명회에서 말씀드렸듯이 새로 이전할 장소는 현성당 1.2 에이커보다 다섯배나 큰 5.8 에이커의 넓은 장소로 우리 공동체가 미래를 활짝 펼칠 수 있는 그러한 곳입니다.
8월말이면 새성전에 대한 인수절차는 끝날 것입니다. 이제는 여러분과 함께 기존 건물의 수리, 보수, 증축에 필요한 자금을 준비할 시간입니다. (그동안 역대 신부님들과 모든 신자분들의 성전이전 신축을 위한 봉헌과 부동산을 포함하여 현재 우리 공동체의 자산은 7백만불정도 됩니다.) 새로운 장소로 이전하기 위해서는 최소한 3백 5십만불 이상의 추가 자금이 필요한 실정입니다. 다시 한번 우리 모두 한마음으로 뜻을 모아 새성전마련에 힘과 정성을 쏟아야 겠습니다.
현재 미국 경제가 좋지 않음을 저도 알고 여러분들도 피부로 느끼실 겁니다. 이 어려운 시기에 많은 희생이 따르겠지만 풍성하게 뿌린 사람은 풍성하게 거둔다는 주님의 말씀을 새기면서 주님 안에서 모두 한 마음으로 힘을 합쳐 노력 한다면 주님께서 도와주실 것이며 하느님 보시기에 아름다운 공동체, 우리가 바라던 그런 성전을 이룰 것이라 확신합니다.
"사람의 마음속에 많은 계획이 들어 있어도 이루어지는 것은 주님의 뜻뿐입니다" (잠언 19,21)라는 성경 말씀처럼 주님의 뜻이 이루어질 수 있도록 한 가정, 한 가정이 정성을 다하여 이번 새성전 건축기금모금에 동참하여 주시길 부탁드립니다. 이 모금은 주님께 봉헌하는 여러분들의 정성입니다.

Gifts of Stock Transfers Instrucrions
Shares of stock donation to Holy Korean Martyrs Catholic Church (HKMCC) is made through the Diocese of San Jose by either stock certificates or stock transfer from broker-to-broker.
A stock transfer sends shares from your account to the Portsmouth Financial Services, the broker for the Diocese of San Jose. Portsmouth, upon receiving the stock, sells the stock at its earliest opportunity. The financial firm then sends the proceeds to the Diocese of San Jose, who will then distribute the funds to HKMCC.

Once the stocks are transferred to the Diocese of San Jose, please follow the below steps:
- Please write a letter to the Department of Financial Services saying that the money should go to HKMCC. Please refer to a sample letter.
- In the same letter, please identify yourself and give your mailing address so we can credit you appropriately.
- Identify your parish (i.e., HKMCC) in this letter.
- You must also identify the number of shares and the type of stock given (e.g., 100 shares of XYZ corporation).
- Mail one copy of the letter to the Diocese of San Jose at

Pledge and Payment Method
Q. Where can I find the pledge form?
A. Please download pledge form here or use the form at the church office. You can also use the online pledge form.
Q. How can I submit the pledge form?
If you are using paper pledge form, you can use the new church pledge box at the church entrance, monthly offering box at the church officen or handin the form to the church office security. If you are using online pledge form, pressing "Submit" button makes the submission.
Q. Tell me about the payment methods.
A. You can pay by cash, check, stock, or automatic bank withdraw (to be setup in future date). When you are writing check, please make the check payable to "HKMCC".
Q. How can I donate by stock?
A. You can transfer the stock directly from your brokerage to DSJ broker account. The detail step by step instruction and account information are available in Gifts of Stock Transfers Instructions. Please pledge $ amount and calculate the number of stock shares at the time of the transfer. At the time of stock transfer, please make sure to note that the donation is for HKMCC and notify church office.
Q. Can I get a receipt when I pay by cash?
A. Church office will provide the receipt for the cash payment upon request.
Pledge and payment deadline
Q. Should I make the pledge and payment at the same time?
A. No. payment can be done separately from pledge. You can specify installment plan to meet your need.
Q. When is the pledge deadline?
A. The degree of new church remodeling is based on the total amount of the pledge (not on the amount of the payment). We plan to start the remodeling in February 2013. To allow time for the permit, design, and planning, we prefer your pledge by the end of November 2012. We request to complete pledge by the end of December 2012.
Q. Should I make the first payment in 2012?
A. To meet the remodeling schedule, we appreciate your early payment. We hope the last payment can be made by the end of 2015. Please note that the pledge form needs to be submitted by the end of 2012.
Q. Should I make the last payment before the end of 2015?
A. It is not a strict deadline, but early payment will make the remodeling process more streamlined.
Q. Should I make the payment as scheduled in the pledge form?
A. You will specify the payment schedule by the "month and amount" (e.g., "Payment of $1000 in February 2013"). We hope the amount will be paid on the scheduled month. However, again, it is not a strict deadline.
Pledge Amount
Q. What is the recommended pledge amount?
A. We suggest 12% of annual gross income to pledge. This is equivalent to 3% per year for four years. For example, a family with $100,000 annual income (before tax), the suggested pledge amount would be $12,000.
Q. Should I follow the percentage printed on the pledge form?
A. The percentage printed on the pledge form is a recommendation. But please understand that we will need significant large amount of money during the initial stage of the remodeling. The recommend schedule is 30% for 2012, 30% for 2013, 20% for 2014, and 20% for 2015.

약정 및 납부 방법
Q. 약정서는 어디에 있습니까?
A. 약정서는 여기서 다운로드 받으시거나 성당 입구에 비치되어 있는 양식을 사용하시면 됩니다. 그리고 온라인 약정서를 이용하셔도 됩니다.
Q. 약정서는 어떻게 제출하나요?
성당입구에 비치되어 있는 함이나 교무금을 내는 창구 혹은 사무장께 직접 제출하시면 됩니다. 온라인 약정서는 "Submit" 버튼을 누르는 순간 자동으로 제출되므로, 직접 방문하여 제출할 필요가 없습니다.
Q. 약정 금액 지불은 어떤 방식으로 하나요?
A. Cash, check, stock, automatic bank withdraw 등으로 납부해주시면 됩니다. Check으로 납부하시는 경우 수취인을 "HKMCC"로 해주시면 됩니다.
Q. 주식으로 납부하는 방법을 알고 싶습니다.

약정과 납부 시기
Q. 약정과 봉헌금 납부를 동시에 해야 하나요?
A. 아닙니다. 약정은 2012년 11월 말까지 제출하는 것을 권장하지만, 12월 말까지도 가능합니다. 봉헌금 납부는 약정서에 명기하신 스케쥴대로 해주시면 됩니다.
Q. 약정서는 언제까지 제출해야 하나요?
A. 납부해주신 금액이 아니라 봉헌을 약정해주신 금액에 따라 건축 보수 공사의 규모가 결정됩니다. 보수 공사는 2013년 2월에 시작될 예정입니다. 보수 공사 이전에 건축 설계, 산호세 시 보수 공사 허가(permit) 등을 위한 여러 준비 기간이 필요합니다. 약정서 제출은 2012년 11월 말까지, 늦더라도 2012년 12월 말까지 해주시면 고맙겠습니다.
Q. 2012년부터 납부를 시작하는 것으로 반드시 약정을 해야하나요?
A. 2012년부터 납부가 되어야 건축에 필요한 자금을 사용할 수 있습니다만, 형편이 여의치 못하면 2013년부터 약정을 하시되 가급적 2015년까지 완료를 부탁드립니다. 참고로, 약정서는 2012년이 지나기 전에 제출되어야 합니다.
Q. 약정 금액을 꼭 2015년 이내에 납부하여야 하나요?
A. 반드시 2015년 내에 납부해야 한다는 것은 아니지만 될 수 있는한 조기에 납부할 수 있도록 권고드립니다.
Q. 약정서에 "2012년( )월" 식으로 돼 있는데 몇월인지를 정하면 해당년도 해당월에 반드시 맞춰서 지불해야 되는 건지요?
A. 약정된 달에 납부해 주시면 좋겠지만, 반드시 약정하신 달에 꼭 맞추어 내실 필요는 없습니다. 매달 얼마씩 입금하시는 분들도 많이 계십니다.
약정 금액
Q. 매년 내는 금액의 비율을 약정서에 명시된 %를 따라야 되는지요? 아님 연도별 금액의 비율은 개인 사정에 따라 조정이 가능한건지요?
A. 명시된 연도별 비율은 증축 및 개축 공사가 시작되는 초기에 현금이 많이 필요하게 되어 편의상 적어둔 것입니다. 개인 사정에 따라 조정이 가능합니다.
Q. 소득의 3%를 약정할 것을 권장하는데, 1년 소득의 3%를 4년에 걸쳐서 내는 것인지, 아니면 매년 소득의 3%씩을 4년간 내어야 하는 건지요? 그리고, 세전 소득의 3%인지 아니면 세후 소득의 3%인지요?
A. 개인 소득의 3%는 세금 공제전을 의미합니다. 개신교에서 말하는 십일조는 세금 공제전 10%입니다만, 저희는 3%씩 4년간 봉헌해 주시기를 권장합니다. 예를 들어, 세금 공제전 연소득 $100,000 인 가정의 경우, 권장하는 약정 금액은 $3,000 x 4년, 즉 $12,000 약정을 권장합니다.
